Who's the most idealistic person you personally know, and what about them makes them such an idealist?

I personally don't know anyone who's a real idealist, someone who gave up a materialistic or socially-approved goal in order to follow a more spiritual ideal. Do you?

To a degree, I'd consider myself an idealist.

One does not have to give up material possessions or follow a spiritual ideal to be idealistic.

I simply envision the possibility of the world being at peace and everyone having what they need, be it food, shelter, and other necessities. I've been told by a number of people in my life that I'm idealistic. To a point I think it's what helps keep the world from totally falling to ruin. If there were no idealistic people to offer up their ideals of what is best for everyone, what do you suppose would happen?

They are the people who make changes for the better. They are the people who push for legislation for equal rights. They're the people who voice their opposition and / or their support of a given issue. I think we all have a bit of idealism in us.
