what automatic transmission could go with a 454 big block?

its a 454 big block in a 79 gmc long bed and im wondering what automatic trans will go with it?

Anything with a Chevy V8 or a dual pattern bellhousing will fit the engine. But the THM350, THM200-4R, THM700-R4/4L60E and such are a little weak for use behind a 454. The THM400 that your truck undoubtedly came with would be easiest, or their successors which are very similar, the 3L80 and 3L80HD, the latter being the better choice between those 2. Or, with the help of an aftermarket electronic controller, you could go with the OD automatic 4L80-E/4L85-E, with again, the latter being slightly better.
