Foam Shapes

Ive noticed in alot of experiential aircraft stock photos that there are random polygons made out of what seems to be foam. Is there any reason for this at all?

The aircraft is in an "Anachoic" Chamber. google to find more on these chambers. The cones are foam impregnated with a conductive element. The intention is to prevent all echo's. Most likely the aircraft was being tested to establish it's radar signature or possibly it's audible noise levels.
