i really need to get down my top spin serve if i want to get on the tennis team please help!!
You will need to hit around 3,000 of the serves before muscle memory begins to lock in and take over. So, begin practicing the serve right away.
Use a Continental grip for the serve. If you are right handed, you will need to toss the ball to your left and slightly behind you. Imagine that you toss the ball and let it drop. If you do the toss properly, the ball would drop behind your left shoulder.
Now imagine that the tennis ball is a clock face. You will need to brush your racquet face over the ball from 7:00 to 2:00. Think of the racquet as traveling in an arc shape, like a rainbow. Snap your wrist when the racquet contacts the ball to help give it more spin and pace.
Follow through to your right and across your body.
As mentioned, you will have to hit a few thousand of these serves before you begin to get any sort of pace or kick on the ball. However, it is worth the effort because the topspin serve is a good one to have.
